Holding a Dancing Class for the Elderly

Ballroom dancing can be therapeutic for elder people. Coupled with a healthy diet and regular exercise, it is a great way to strengthen the bones. Aside from that, it also helps old people maintain healthy social relationships with their peers.

Of course, we do not expect the elderly to perform gravity-defying dance moves or jaw-dropping splits. It is best to begin with easy dances such as simpler versions of the Cha Cha and Waltz. As their level of dancing skill improves, the group can then move on to more advanced lessons.

Most elder people have faulty vision. This can make it difficult for them to observe and watch the dance instructor. To remedy this problem, a large projector screen can be installed in the dancing venue. It will magnify the dance instructor and make it easier for everyone to keep up with the dance routines – even if they are dancing at the back of the room!
